Website Maintenance·after-launch technical responsibility· clear ownership

$ Website maintenance means someone remains responsible after the website goes live.

A website is not a printed flyer you make once and forget. Behind it remain hosting, SSL, backups, security, the domain, technical configuration and occasional changes. If nobody owns those tasks, a small problem can become urgent exactly when you need the website most.

// what needs to be maintained?

The technical foundation has moving parts.

01
Hosting

Hosting

The infrastructure where the website runs has to remain available, properly configured and under the supervision of a responsible party.

02
SSL

SSL

The secure HTTPS connection has to work correctly. If the certificate or configuration fails, a visitor may receive a warning that the website is not secure.

03
Backups

Backups

A backup is a reserve copy that lets you return to a working state when something goes wrong.

But a backup only has value if it exists and somebody knows who is responsible for using it when needed.

04
Stability

Security and stability

Changes to the server, libraries, code or other system components can create problems. Someone needs to know what changed and how to respond.

05
Changes

Technical changes

Changing contact details, a photo or a small piece of content is not the same as developing new functionality.

Good maintenance has a clear boundary between a minor change and a new project.

// what happens when nobody is responsible?

The worst model is: “Website finished. Good luck.”

Then the owner first thinks about hosting when the site goes down, SSL when the browser warns, and backups when one is already needed.

The problem is not the technical term.

The problem is that nobody made it clear who to call when something stops working.

website: "finished"
hosting: "remembered when it goes down"
ssl: "remembered when warning appears"
backup: "remembered when urgently needed"

// maintenance, changes and development

Maintenance, changes and development are not the same thing.

We do not like a package that says “everything is included” when nobody can explain what “everything” means.

The boundaries should be clear before you need them.

01
Maintenance

Maintenance

Maintenance keeps the existing technical foundation stable.

02
Content change

A content change

A content change modifies something that already exists — for example text, a photo or contact details.

03
Development

Development

Development adds new functionality, a new structure or significantly changes the existing system.

// how often should a website be checked?

There is no single schedule for every website.

A simple static business website has fewer moving parts than a complex CMS or web application.

The basic questions remain the same.

// how SEOFixLab handles this concern

With our Mini Site + Managed Hosting offer, the technical foundation is not handed over to the client and abandoned immediately after launch.

With our Mini Site + Managed Hosting offer, the technical foundation is not handed over to the client and abandoned immediately after launch.

SEOFixLab manages hosting, SSL, backups, security settings and technical stability as part of the managed service.

Our server system is configured to notify us directly about relevant technical changes and problems on the server and application side. In many cases, that means we can spot and resolve a problem before it becomes a problem for the client.

If something we manage stops working properly, you do not need to work out whether it is hosting, SSL, the server, PHP, a script or the code.

Contact us. We will do the diagnosis.

// when maintenance is not what you need

Maintenance and an Audit are not the same service.

If your website technically works, but:

  • it does not appear for relevant searches;
  • people visit but do not send enquiries;
  • the offer is unclear;
  • the content and structure are chaotic;
  • you do not know what should be fixed first;

then the problem is probably not maintenance.

That is where the Audit comes in.

The Audit looks at the existing website and digital system to find what is actually holding it back and what should be fixed first.

It is not a mandatory next step for a Mini Site client.

It is a separate service for a business that already has a digital system and needs a clear diagnosis before making the next investment.

// questions + answers

Frequently asked questions.

What is included in website maintenance?
It depends on the agreed model, but with SEOFixLab managed hosting, technical maintenance covers continuity of hosting, SSL and backups, stability monitoring and technical issue resolution within the agreed scope.

That also means keeping the server environment healthy: relevant security patches, PHP updates when needed, scripts, libraries and other components that must remain secure and compatible.

In plain English: we try to keep the technical foundation healthy so you do not have to read release notes.
Is a backup enough?
No. A backup does not prevent a problem. It gives you a way to recover once a problem has happened.
Who handles SSL and hosting problems?
With SEOFixLab managed hosting, that is part of the technical layer we manage.
Does maintenance include SEO?
Not automatically. Maintenance keeps the system functional. SEO addresses the broader question of discoverability, relevance, content and the business journey through the website.
How much do additional changes cost?
Work outside the agreed scope is assessed according to the actual amount of work. For the Mini Site service, additional technical work is charged at €50 + VAT per hour.
